# Team and roles

> The four company roles, what each can do, how to invite members, change roles and positions, and who signs for the company.

Everyone in your company acts with one of four roles. The role decides what a person can do on the company's behalf. You manage members on the **Team members** tab of `/app/company`.

## The four roles

| Role | In short |
| - | - |
| **Owner** | Manages members and can do everything the other roles can. |
| **Authorized signatory** | Signs agreements, files verification and publishes capacity. Can also do everything a trader can. |
| **Trader** | Manages requests, accepts opportunities and handles deal invoices. |
| **Viewer** | Sees the dashboard but cannot act for the company. |

## What each role can do

| Action | Owner | Authorized signatory | Trader | Viewer |
| - | :-: | :-: | :-: | :-: |
| View the market | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Create, edit and close requests | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | – |
| Accept or decline opportunities | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | – |
| File an existing relationship claim | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | – |
| Confirm you are ready to proceed on an introduction | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | – |
| Send and withdraw deal invoices, mark them paid, confirm money received | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | – |
| Report a success fee paid (**I have paid**) | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | – |
| Submit the company for verification | ✓ | ✓ | – | – |
| Sign agreements and download signed copies | ✓ | ✓ | – | – |
| Publish, edit and delist listings | ✓ | ✓ | – | – |
| Edit company details | ✓ | ✓ | – | – |
| Invite, change and remove members | ✓ | – | – | – |

Traders and viewers do not receive company notifications. See [Notifications](/account/notifications).

None of these actions ask for your second factor. Only signing an agreement and changing a verified company's legal name or country do. See [Two-factor authentication](/account/two-factor#actions-that-ask-for-it).

## Invite a member

Only an owner can invite people. Other members see "Only the company owner can invite people or change roles."

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the invite form">
    Go to `/app/company`, open **Team members**, and find **Invite someone**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the address and role">
    Type the person's email and pick a role: **Authorized signatory**, **Trader** or **Viewer**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send it">
    Press **Send invite**. The invitation goes out straight away.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The person receives an email with the subject "\<company> invited you to join them on GPU Outlet". They sign in with the invited address and join the company.

You cannot invite someone as an owner. Ownership changes hands only through the GPU Outlet team; contact [support](/reference/support).

### Invitation rules

* An invitation is valid for 7 days.
* It works only for the email address it was sent to.
* A person belongs to one company at a time.

An invitation cannot be used in these cases:

| Case | What the person sees |
| - | - |
| Opened with a different email | "This invitation was sent to a different email address. Sign in with the address it was sent to, then open the link again." |
| Older than 7 days | "This invitation has expired. Ask the company to send a new one. They last a week." |
| Withdrawn by the company | "The company withdrew this invitation. Ask them to send another one." |
| Already used | "This invitation has already been used. If that was you, you are already a member." |
| Person is in another company | "This account already belongs to a company. A person belongs to one company at a time, so leave the current one before joining another." |

The form also refuses an address that is already a member, already has a live invite, or is your own.

## Change a role or remove a member

Only an owner can change roles or remove members.

* To change a role, pick a new one in the member's row.
* To remove a member, press **Remove** in their row.

A company always keeps at least one owner. You cannot demote or remove the last owner. The dashboard shows "A company must keep at least one owner."

If the GPU Outlet team changes your role or removes you, you get a notification. See [Notifications](/account/notifications).

### Leaving a company

You cannot leave a company yourself. An owner can remove any member who is not an owner. To remove an owner or hand over ownership, contact the GPU Outlet team through [support](/reference/support).

## Positions

A position is a person's job title, such as "CTO". It is different from their role.

* A position is 1 to 120 characters.
* An owner can set anyone's position.
* Any member can set their own position.
* Neither setting your own position nor an owner setting someone else's asks for a second factor.

Type the position in the member's row. It saves when you leave the field or press Enter.

The signatory's position is printed on the agreements your company signs.

## Who signs for the company

Agreements are signed in the name of one person: the owner or authorized signatory who joined the company first. It is not necessarily the person who presses **Sign**.

That person's first name, last name and position are printed on the agreement. If any are missing, the **Documents** page asks for them before signing. See [Agreements](/account/agreements).

If nobody in the company is an owner or an authorized signatory, no agreement can be signed.
